Cycling uphill is hard! Cycling downhill is fun until you lose control and end up going head first through the side of a barn. Who knows what end of what animal you may be facing when that happens? No, the best way to enjoy cycling is on nice flat roads and that is exactly what we have here in Mathews County Virginia on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay.

Here at our B&B The Inn at Tabbs Creek, we offer bicycles for our guests to use if you don’t bring your own. A short ride down our lane to the main road offers several choices for you to make. Our favorite is a five mile ride to Bethel Beach where you can leave the bike off to the side and take a stroll and see the beauty of this Virginia side of the Chesapeake Bay nature preserve.

There are other choices for cycling as well, like a nice ride into downtown Mathews Virginia or down to the end of the peninsula to see the New Point comfort light house. If that’s not enough and you want to take longer rides, we have maps and trails to give you all kinds of choices to suit your cycling needs. Folks around here are used to cyclists on the road as the county hosts an annual cycling event called the Tour de Chesapeake. Plus traffic off the main road is sparse anyway so you’re going to find a relaxing environment to enjoy your cycling adventure.
