From DC/ Northern VA: Take I-95 South to just past Fredericksburg, then take US 17 South through Tappahannock, Port Royal, and around Saluda. Approximately 3 miles south of Saluda, you will come to a stoplight with a 7-11 store on your left. Turn left at that light onto VA 198 and stay on 198 as it eventually takes a left hand turn. You will eventually enter Mathews County, and pass through Cobbs Creek and Hudgins and shortly thereafter, VA 14 joins VA 198 at an Exxon station. From there, Follow directions below from Town of Mathews to Inn.
From Maryland Suburbs: Take US 301, cross the Potomac and at Port Royal VA, take US 17 South through Tappahannock, Port Royal, and around Saluda. From Richmond, VA: Take I-64 East toward Norfolk and take exit 220 toward West Point. Pass through West Point and go several miles until you enter Gloucester County. You will come to a stoplight with a 7-11 convenience store across to the left. Go straight through this stoplight onto VA 198 and stay on 198 as it eventually takes a left hand turn. You will eventually enter Mathews County, and pass through Cobbs Creek and Hudgins and shortly thereafter, VA 14 joins VA 198 at an Exxon station. From there , Follow directions below from Town of Mathews to Inn.
From North Carolina: Take I-95 or I-85 to Richmond, and follow directions from there. Follow directions below from Town of Mathews to Inn.
From Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Peninsula: Take I-64 West toward Richmond. In Newport News, take exit 250B, Fort Eustis Blvd. toward Yorktown, VA105. Follow VA 105 toward Yorktown until it intersects with US17 and take a left onto US17 North. Go across the York River on the Coleman Bridge, ($2.00 toll), and continue on 17 into Gloucester County. Veer right onto business 17 toward Gloucester Court House and Mathews. At the first light, take a right onto VA 3. Keep going straight as 3 merges with VA 14 and stay on VA 14 into Mathews until you come to a dead end. Take a right to stay on VA 14 and VA 198. From there, Follow directions below from Town of Mathews to Inn.
From Mathews Village to The Inn:
Shortly after entering village of Mathews, you will come to an intersection with a Hardees across the street to the right. Take a right at this intersection to stay on VA 14. After approximately 4 miles, you will reduce speed to 35 mph and enter the village of Port Haywood. You will then see on your right Tatterson’s Greenhouse and Garden Shop, and right after that Woodstock service station. There is a wall that is located right after this service station that blocks your view of Turpin Lane. Carefully take an IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN right after the wall onto Turpin Lane, between the second and third “No Parking” signs that are posted, and directly across the road from route 608. It is an easy turn to miss, so if you pass it, just take a left at the Post Office on your left, turn around and try again! Once on Turpin lane, it will soon turn into a dirt road.
